Overview

Fond of Here is a private personal place-saving application. Your saved places, titles, stories, and photos belong to your private collection and are never public, never sold, and never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Information We Collect & How It Is Used

• Sign-in identity (Email Address & User ID): You sign in using Sign in with Apple (including Hide My Email relay addresses) or Sign in with Google. Your authenticated user ID and email address are used strictly to authenticate your session and isolate your private collection using row-level access controls.
• Precise location (On-demand only): Fond of Here requests your device’s location only when you explicitly tap Save this place while the app is open. Fond of Here never collects background location and never requests your current location when you open directions to an existing place.
• Optional memories & photos: You may optionally add a place title, a story or note, and up to 3 photos per place. Photos are resized and compressed on your device (up to 1600 px JPEG) before being uploaded to a private storage bucket and are accessed only via temporary signed URLs.
• Optional usage analytics (Off by default): In Account settings, you can choose whether to enable Share usage analytics. It is disabled by default. When enabled, Fond of Here records only basic actions (whether a place was saved, opened by age bucket, or opened for directions in Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze) under a pseudonymous analytics ID. Coordinates, titles, stories, photos, and email addresses are never included in analytics events, and events older than 90 days are automatically purged.

Third-Party Services & Maps

• Authentication & cloud storage: Account authentication, database storage, and private photo storage are hosted on Supabase with strict per-user Row Level Security.
• Map tiles & directions: Place maps load standard map tiles from OpenStreetMap. When you tap a directions link for Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze, the destination coordinates of that saved place are opened in the selected navigation app.

Data Retention, Export & Account Deletion

• Temporary offline pending saves: If a place cannot finish saving while your device is offline, its coordinates are held locally on your device for your account for up to 72 hours so you can retry or discard them.
• Exporting your data: You can export your saved places and photos from the Account screen on the web at any time in JSON, CSV, or GeoJSON format.
• Deleting your account: You can permanently delete your account at any time directly inside the iOS app or website under Account → Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your sign-in account, saved places, memories, stored photos, privacy settings, and analytics records.
